Pro Tips

  1. Position the center of the painting 5 feet above the floor, aligning it with eye level. You don't want to have to look up to see a painting. Large pieces often have the bottom of the frame 4' off the floor. Especially if there are several in a hallway, keep the bottom line consistent.

  2. Avoid the tendency to stagger two pictures with one up higher than the other. Either align them vertically or horizontally. Or if you can, make it a foursome, spacing 1" - 2" apart. That makes small pictures with a common theme appear to be one larger image.

  3. To plan multiple pictures or mirrors: Draw outlines of the frames on kraft paper until it is pleasing. Mark an X at the individual hanger placement locations. Measure from the wire to the top of the frame at the very middle. Attach the paper template to the wall and install the hangers over each X, removing the paper before placing each piece on its respective hanger.

  4. Ensure your heavy artwork is securely anchored to prevent any accidents. If you're uncertain, use a stud finder to nail into a wooden stud or choose anchors suitable for the weight.

  5. Keep that artwork level! Use double stick tape dots behind the frame's corners.
